Master 〇's discourse
On the evening of March 4th, 2010
Master 〇 has just skimmed through the group chatting records and would like
to remind you that you don't talk about anything unrelated to Buddhism
learning. Let alone the current affairs and politics.
Cultivate with a pure mind and don't be a cynic.
When one has a pure mind, he or she is in a pure land, and all under the
Heaven is at peace and harmony.
To come is also the destiny.
To stay is also at peace and easy.
To leave is just to let it go as well.
Master 〇's father died of lung cancer. Master 〇 has gone through the sorrow of
separation and death, from which he has realized a lot.
In order to cure father's disease, Master 〇 had tried his best at all costs.
Master 〇's father relied on narcotic painkillers in his late days and Master 〇
was very painful seeing that.
In just a few months, father's hair turned white and off because of the
chemotherapy, and father's bony and skinny image is still so vivid to me.
Master 〇 has realized the suffering of aging, the suffering of illness, the
suffering of death, the suffering from the separation with loved ones,
the suffering due to the five skandhas and the suffering of non-getting.
After father died of disease, Master 〇 could not accept the fact for a long time.
Sometimes, Master 〇 even thought that father had not died.
Sometimes, father came out of the grave livingly in the dreams.
Master 〇 has very deep connection with his father.
Master 〇 remembered one time when father had a nasal polyp surgery. Father
was having the surgery on the operating table, while Master 〇 was waiting
outside the operation chamber but his nose had been in pain until the
end of father's surgery.
Form father's death and disease, Master 〇 has realized a lot.
Master 〇's family was extremely poor in his early age, and both parents are illiterate.
They had made all kinds of killing karma, having no chance to hear the
Buddha Dharma and being unaware of the seriousness of killing karma.
Due to the killing karma, father received the retribution brought about
by that, which also gave Master 〇 the most vivid lesson on causes and effects.
Master 〇 has realized: Causes and effects are definitely real.
Father fell into the realm of deity right after his death. The living
beings in the realm of deity enjoy offerings, so it is also free and easy.
Father didn't have greater resolve but only wished to live in freedom
and hang out with deities or fairy friends drinking and laughing together.
After hearing teachings and receiving blessing from the Buddha power, he
gradually worked more diligently. He was reborn to the Heaven later and
made his mind be reborn in pure land.
Powers of the Buddhas cannot change one's karma.
Supernatural powers cannot change one’s karma.
Mana cannot change one’s karma.
All disciples should go through all obstacles completely and also have
to understand them thoroughly.
Master 〇 praises disciple's great vow, wishing you return to the mundane
land again with vows rather than seeking for the cycle of death and birth.
All disciples please keep in mind: Don't make vows arbitrarily.
Vows also bring about causes and effects.
Don’t make vows easily.
Don’t form connections with anybody easily.
There seems a popular saying in Tibet.
When one is born, all the people are laughing, but he or she is crying.
When one dies, all the people are crying, but he or she is laughing.
Birth is not encouraging, while death is not lamentable.
This is the attitude towards birth and death of those who have gone
through birth and death.
The Buddha Nature is neither being born nor dying.
What has passed away is just the physical body.
A marvelous mind is free from any form.
Do not seek Dharma out of one’s mind.
A marvelous mind is endowed with everything.
Buddha Nature is endowed with everything.
No matter you practice or not, realize or not, the profoundly
enlightened mind is always neither being born nor dying.
It neither increases if you are a saint, nor decreases if you are a mortal.
